Mezcal Sin Pena is an artisanal 100% Espadín spirit from Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. Crafted using ancestral volcanic stone tahonas and traditional copper stills, it offers an “extra smooth” profile of roasted green chile, citrus, and herbal notes. With its “Global Citizen” philosophy and award-winning 93-point pedigree, Sin Pena delivers a bold, honest taste of Mexico’s rich heritage. Perfect for sipping neat or elevating craft cocktails, it is the purest expression of the Oaxacan terroir.

Unlike mass-produced spirits, we utilize a “Single Terroir” approach, meaning every bottle comes from the same land and harvest, ensuring unmatched consistency and purity. Our focus on an “Extra Soft” palate profile, featuring notes of azahar, lemon balm, and toasted hazelnut, makes our mezcal uniquely accessible to both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers seeking a premium, uninhibited experience.
Mezcal Sin Pena harmonizes Authenticity and Purity by utilizing ancestral, 100% handmade processes in the heart of Oaxaca. This commitment to tradition allows us to channel the Mysticism of the agave, inviting consumers to shed their inhibitions. Every drop is a validated testament to our heritage, crafted for those who seek a truly uninhibited spirit.
The story of Mezcal Sin Pena begins in the mystical lands of Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca, the world capital of Mezcal. Our journey is rooted in the “Single Terroir” philosophy, where we exclusively cultivate 100% Maguey Espadín on our own estate to ensure a flavor profile that is as unique as the soil itself. The brand was born from a desire to create a spirit that encourages people to live “Sin Pena”, without shame or sorrow, inviting every connoisseur to embrace an uninhibited lifestyle while connecting with their deepest, mystical essence.
Our process is a 100% handmade ritual led by our Maestro Mezcalero, who honors traditions passed down through generations. We wait patiently for at least eight years until our agaves reach full maturity before harvesting. These agave hearts are then slow-cooked in conical stone ovens fueled by non-deforested wood and volcanic rock, imbuing the liquid with its characteristic depth. Following the traditional tahona grinding method with a heavy tezontle stone wheel, the juice is fermented naturally in wooden vats using only wild, airborne yeasts, no chemical accelerators are ever used.
Finally, our mezcal undergoes a meticulous double distillation in copper stills. By carefully separating the “heads” and “tails,” we capture only the purest “heart” of the distillate, resulting in an exceptionally smooth 37% Alc. Vol. spirit that has been celebrated globally. In 2023, this dedication to craftsmanship earned Mezcal Sin Pena a prestigious Double Gold at the SIP Awards and a 93-point Silver Medal at the New York International Spirits Competition. Every bottle is hand-labeled and packed, serving as a testament to our commitment to quality and the vibrant spirit of Mexican heritage.
