About The Old Packhouse Distillery

The Old Packhouse Distillery is situated on a farm in Tzaneen, South Africa, at the foothills of the Wolkberg mountains. We are an artisanal gin producer & manufacturer. Only the finest ingredients are used in our small batch gin, exemplifying low-veld country living. The Old Packhouse Distillery has won several international and national gin and spirits awards with our hand crafted gin. We also firmly believe in supporting our local communities and make use of all- natural and locally produced ingredients. We support the EWT (Wildlife Endangered Trust) as well as the Shared Universe Foundation (NPO) who are in partnerships with various parks and the government which are dedicated to ensuring that the endangered wildlife is conserved for future generations as well as establishing conservation awareness among the people  of South Africa and beyond.

Handcrafted Award-Winning Spirits

Crystal GIN

Our Crystal Gin a triple distilled London Dry Gin. In the fourth distillation we use the vapor infusion technique through the botanicals which marries the subtle subtle flavours into the pure spirit. This multiple distillation ensures a perfectly smooth gin. None of the botanicals are predominant, thus the taste is that of a pure gin.

Slice of cucumber with a crack of black pepper / Orange slice with a sprig of rosemary / Lemon or a slice of fennel. 

Blueberry GIN

This is our flagship gin. Four times distilled for smoothness and purity. We use 100 grams of locally produced blueberries for each bottle of gin. Often referred to as our Pink Lady, the colour and taste of this gin is produced by anthocyanins found in the blueberry, which are renowned for their health benefits. Enjoy this handcrafted gin on the rocks or with tonic and your favorite garnishes.

Valencia GIN

A citrus infused gin with a light orange note. Tangy and refreshing, this gin has its origins in the low-veld of Limpopo. The Valencia oranges add flavour to this popular gin. Four times distilled for smoothness and purity. This gin is a tribute to the citrus farming community and exemplifies the quality and spirit of the country living in Limpopo.

Dragon Fruit GIN

A burst of exotic flavor, our Dragon Fruit Gin is made by infusing dragon fruit during the 4th distillation to create a smooth, flavorful gin with only the heart of the gin. This gin was created in collaboration with Amorentia Nursery in South Africa where we bring awareness to our local community and support the agricultural hub of the luscious African landscapes.

Mandarin GIN

A delicious Mandarin infused gin to be enjoyed on a hot summers day. This sweet and full flavored fruit marries well with our smooth, four times distilled gin. Only the best, bursting with citrus flavor, fruits are selected from our local growers for this proudly South African gin.

Rare GIN

These rare gins are handcrafted and distilled with African and traditional botanicals, infused with locally sourced moringa leaf, which creates a  highly sought after award winning flavor. We support our local community by sourcing the moringa leaf from naturally grown locals in our luscious area. The gin is also created in collaboration with the EWT (Endangered Wildlife Trust) who has been involved in conservation of endangered species for over 45 years and is committed to nature conservation by adopting a 21st century conservation model of balancing the needs of wildlife and people. Our Wild Dog and Golden Rhino Gins promises a rare and fascinating experience.

Handcrafted RUM

A Rum not just for pirates. This handcrafted rum is made from rich molasses, distilled & aged on oak to smooth perfection. We have achieved a luscious spirit that will refresh even the driest of bones.

This luxury rum is best enjoyed neat. But for the manliest men, recommended as a mixed drink with cranberry juice.

Salted & Roasted mixed nuts or nutty chocolate truffles 

5 Year Old Potstill Brandy

A rich rounded sensual aroma with deep oak tones, which enfolds to a balanced blend of lingering roasted nutty and smooth aftertaste. Best enjoyed neat or with a block of ice. The brandy is super smooth, blended from specifically selected French oak casks with minimum of 5 years. 40% Vol Alcohol.

PAIRING

South African Biltong with roasted and slated nuts or a selection of chocolate truffles, from white to milk dusted with cocoa or deep  dark chocolate with orange.
