The story of Blackhat Distillery is a narrative of resilience, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of perfection. Our journey began within the hallowed walls of the Alexander Building, a landmark of Colorado Springs’ industrial heritage that once housed the world’s largest film advertising company. From 1928 through the mid-20th century, this facility was a hub of global creativity, producing the advertisements and aircraft that defined an era of American growth. Today, we have breathed new life into this 16,000-square-foot complex, transforming it into a “New Era of Distilling” where the ghosts of cinematic pioneers share space with the most advanced hybrid pot stills in the Western United States.
Our philosophy is rooted in the “Blackhat” archetype, a symbol of the rebel, the innovator, and the influencer who demands change and pushes boundaries. We believe that crafting exceptional spirits requires a rejection of the ordinary. This rebellion is evident in our commitment to the American Agave movement, where we import 100% Blue Weber Agave and refine it with the clarity of Rocky Mountain snowmelt, a water source renowned for its purity and ability to amplify natural flavors.
Every bottle that leaves our high-capacity bottling line is a testament to our dedication to craftsmanship. Whether it is our award-winning Duelers agave line, aged meticulously in French and American oak, or our Tanto Vodka, which honors the heroic legacy of Kris “Tanto” Paronto, we ensure that every sip tells a story of courage, tradition, and technical precision. We invite you to join us in our tasting room, nestled among the original film vaults and vintage cameras of the Alexander era, to experience the fusion of historical weight and modern spirit
