Out Story

Our story begins in 2012, when four friends passionate about gin and curious to discover new distillation methods started producing their own drink in a small copper
still. But the big leap only came in 2015, with the foundation of a micro-distillery where
the main objectives would be: to produce a superior quality gin, in small batches,
through a genuinely artisanal process (handcraft).

BEG Distillery came up with the concept of “Boutique Distillery”, and its differential is
in the sensorial quality provided by the care and perfection in each stage of the
production process.

BEG BRAZILIAN BOUTIQUE DRY GIN

BEG Brazilian Boutique Dry Gin has been specially created by our Master Distiller, to select and preserve the most delicate fragrances and flavors of this incredible distilled spirit. Its recipe counts on 11 botanicals carefully selected which, together, provides a fruity, floral and citrus initial touches with a surprisingly dry and slightly spicy finish.

With the desire to create an authentic gin loaded with Juniper notes, we decided to create a new class of Gin, the New World Navy. When increasing the flavour profile in our gin, we felt obliged to balance this delicious decision with a rise in ABV to the limit as allowed by the Brazilian legislation. At 54% ABV, the New World Navy uses more than double the amount of juniper berries than our BEG Brazilian Boutique Dry Gin, being 1/4 vapor infused and the rest macerated over 24 hours just like our original recipe.

First, we distill our highly renowned and awarded BEG Brazilian Boutique Dry Gin, but with a slight and sweet twist. With a longer distillation process, we are able to flower all the sweetness from the Cinnamon bark and the floral notes from the Brazilian Elder-
flower. Only then we start a 24 hour maceration with our 12o botanical, the dried Blue Pea Flowers. The result couldn’t be any better, an authentic Contemporary handcrafted Gin with a floral explosion incredibly balanced with our fresh citric e fruity notes, making our gin exquisite even for the ones who don’t appreciate “GIN”. And it does get better, when adding acidity to the glass, the Modern & Tropical turns from that  beautiful blue into a light pink, catching the eye of almost everyone around.

With a concentration of botanicals, aromas e flavors 6 (six) times of a traditional Gin, its recommended dosage of 10ml, yes that’s true, only 10ml, it gives you the opportunity to create your favorite cocktail with a 80% reduction in alcohol content and in calories; and the most important, without losing one single drop of aroma and flavor
from our traditional BEG Brazilian Boutique Dry Gin.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is one of our biggest values. Besides the fact that our team is well trained to separate and dispose correctly of all of our waste, as our selective collection management, in 2019 we closed a partnership with EU RECICLO® to fulfill our reverse logistics regarding our packaging waste. With a local but nationwide network of recycling operators, they are able to compensate 100% of our package waste. Regarding our distillation process, we found an unique but beautiful alternative to our distillation waste, better known as Tail. They are diluted nearly to 0% ABV and used as fertigation on our property soil, especially where we grow the botanicals used in our recipes. All of our water used in the still condenser is reused in a closed recirculating system,  mitigating loss and waste of our clear and pure artesian well water.

OUR PRODUCTION

The production of BEG labels takes more than 30 hours to end up in our beautiful
bottles. Developed by our Master Distiller Arthur Flosi, through a lot of previous study
and experimenting, the main goal was to achieve superior quality over domestic and
imported commercial brands. After up to 24 hours of cold infusion of botanicals in our
stills, each distillation is fulfilled in 7 to 8 hours, mainly due to our slow steam heating
method. Our distillation starts with the addition of the freshly picked lemongrass and
the citrus peels inside of a basket located just above the previous macerated
botanicals for a delicate vapor infusion. The first drops are accompanied with an
incredible citric aroma with an intense citric aroma that permeates through our
distillery, gaining more complexity each minute. The heart cut is thoroughly selected
by our Master Distiller in order to deliver the maximum quality of fragrances and
tastes for our products.

DISTILLATION

Our distillation process was developed by our Master Distiller, Arthur Flosi, after numerous visits, experiments and study in order to achieve superior quality over other domestic and imported brands. Each batch takes from 6 to 7 hours, especially due to the “water bath” heating system, the slow distillation of the previous macerated mix starts with adding the citrics to a basket located just under the pot still neck. The first drops provide a fantastic smell over our distillery, and as each minute goes by, more
complexity is added. Our premium quality and yet our craft signature is guaranteed during each cut, both Heads and Tails are carefully executed giving our Heart the most magnificent quality possible, making our gin silky and smooth in every sip.

OUR BOTANICALS

The British essence of our gin is composed of juniper, coriander seed and angelica root: which together promote the dry flavor and provide the fruity notes of a classic English gin. The exclusively Brazilian botanicals, Pitangueira leaves and Brazilian Elderflower, add exotic and tropical characteristics promoting complexity in our gin.


Pitangueira leaves have a slightly spicy and citrusy note, while Elderflower has a sweet but smooth floral note: Cardamom and Cinnamon complete the balanced complexity of the macerated botanicals. Fresh Lemongrass, fresh peels from Tahiti lime, Brazilian tangerine and sweet orange carry the citrus notes present in our gin. All botanicals are macerated in extra neutral alcohol for up to 24 hours before each batch, except for the fresh botanicals, which are added moments before each distillation. This process provides greater efficiency in extracting aromas and flavor compounds.
