The inspiration for Angelica Blue comes from Cyprus’ rich and lush citrus fruit orchards. We have combined 10 organic, local hand-picked botanicals, and spices with local citrus fruit and a flower from the Far East adding a note of mystery and surprise! Angelica Blue is sourced, produced, distilled, and bottled in Cyprus. It’s a gentle, complex, and aromatic gin, with a citrus fruit beginning and a long, complex botanical finish giving it a balanced 3-dimensional character. Angelica Blue is a gin with a twist! It has a blue color that transforms into pink when tonic is added to it!
Inspired by the world-famous botanicals that grow on the island of Cyprus, AORATOS dry gin is a testament to the aromas and the essence of the Cypriot mountain nature.
AORATOS dry gin is a premium small-batch, dry gin handcrafted by Aristides Distillery, combining 10 organic, local hand-picked botanicals. It is the first dry gin, sourced, produced, distilled, and bottled in Cyprus. Gentle, complex, and aromatic, AORATOS is selectively distilled with wild juniper berries of endemic species, locally known as “Aoratos”, Coriander, Angelica root, Nettle leaves, Iron wort, Sage, Rosemary and more. These precious local ingredients make a distinctive blend, which is a unique expression of the heart and soul of the Cyprus mountains.
The term terroir is usually associated with wine production but we believe this needs to change to include all plants that grow in the soil, not just grapes. In the case of our Cypriot potatoes, that grow in the mineral rich red soil (Terra Rossa) under an abundance of sunshine and with a constant cool sea breeze, something magical happens due to this unique terroir that helps grow some of the best rating potatoes in the world!
This very same potato has been our inspiration, the reason why we worked so hard to turn it into a smooth, crystal clear vodka. The first and only vodka produced and distilled in Cyprus using the best tasting potatoes in the world, Cyprus potatoes! The results astonish those familiar with mainstream vodkas. No filtering, no charcoal, no gimmicks and no artificial flavorings.

Establishing Aristides Distilling in Cyprus is the second part of a journey that began in southern Missouri around 2008, in a place called Walnut Shade somewhere in the Ozark Mountains where co-founder Aris Aristidou started a successful collaboration with Jim Blansit and together they launched the first craft distillery in the Ozark Mountains since prohibition! Aris and Jim became partners and together landed 3 spirit awards by the American Distilling Institute. They were later joined by co-founder Marianna Ktoridou Aristidou in 2013 and expanded spirit sales throughout the entire state, featuring a wide variety of Whiskeys and Rums.
In 2016, Aris and Marianna left Missouri and returned to Cyprus to embark on a new craft distillery project, in Cyprus. After a 2 year period of research, planning, and lots of problem-solving, they started putting together their own craft distillery early in 2019 and finally begun operations on 01/01/2020.
This new type of craft distillery is focused on better, more accurate, and more advanced distilling process methods, with more quality controls thus minimizing guesswork and chance. This is what we at Aristides Distilling call the new age of a craft distilling!
