About us

A Bucket List Trip That Changed Everything

Horse Neck tale begins with the realization that a bucket list can be a catalyst for a new life chapter. For founders Kurt, Darren, Jim, and Brian, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail was a long-talked-about dream. That dream became a reality in the middle of a global pandemic. Despite the timing, they ventured to the heart of Kentucky, where the distilleries, tastings, and tours offered a thrill that would eventually chart a new course for their lives.

 

The defining moment happened on a tour bus one sunny Saturday morning. A local friend named Rick handed the group plastic cups of his favorite “juice”, a simple mix of bourbon, bitters, and Ale81 ginger ale. It was the tastiest, most unique drink they had ever encountered, even at 8:00 in the morning. Within ten minutes, a single idea blurted out: “We should can this drink and sell it in Texas!”. Those ten words transformed a bucket list trip into a growing business, evolving from a bourbon cocktail into a full line of premium Kentucky Straight Bourbons.

 

Today, Horse Neck is a mission to capture the joy of celebrating life with friends. While we are based in Texas, every bottle is exclusively sourced from Kentucky to leverage time-honored distilling methods. Our team is a lifelong buddy group united by shared values and a commitment to quality.
