Eyland Spirits was born out of a shared passion for Iceland’s untamed beauty and a desire to encapsulate its essence in spirits of extraordinary purity. Founded in Reykjavík in 2017 by a team of Icelanders and Americans, our distillery draws from the island’s dramatic volcanoes, glaciers, and lava fields. We begin with water filtered through centuries-old subterranean volcanic rock, yielding one of the world’s purest, highest-pH sources, critical for creating a silky, mineral-rich mouthfeel.

Our botanicals are sustainably foraged from Iceland’s wild landscapes: delicate Arctic thyme carpets the ground beneath sweeping fjords; birch bark and mountain moss cling to rocky slopes at high elevations. These indigenous ingredients impart unique herbal, floral, and earthy notes that define our spirits. Distillation takes place in intimate copper pot stills using small, meticulously monitored batches. This hands-on approach allows precise control over flavor extraction, ensuring every drop reflects our commitment to quality.

Our homage to the pioneering spirit of Eggert Ólafsson, an 18th-century explorer and naturalist, guides our philosophy: respect for nature, pursuit of excellence, and celebration of Icelandic heritage. The result is Ólafsson Icelandic Gin, a crisp yet smooth classic, and Ólafsson Rosé Gin, a floral-tinged innovation. Both have earned top honors at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, IWSC, and more.
